I was creative today!

Today I added to a big doodle I started last night, using tips from the doodling discussion here. I really like it! I also worked on some writing.

What did you do?

ooh. last night we saw an animated movie called, Persepolis. The black and white drawings (not like a pixar...much more like drawings!) so inspired me! I did digital painting and am in the process of making a video of them. Nothing like the animation in the movie. That was just the spark.

Tonight I experimented with two programs: Terragen and Photoshop. First I used Terragen to create a landscape, then applied all kinds of filtering and manipulation in Photoshop. No idea what I was doing with either program, but I think playing around is a good way to learn. I did have a few tutorials open and referred to them from time to time as I went. Anyway, the result:

I have much to learn but enjoyed making this and I like the picture.

Today l made another tile! l am experimenting in making molds from patterned glass etc and anything that l can get a good imprint from.l use fimo clay for the mold, bake it, and then press more clay into it for the impression. Very easy! l have put a few of my latest photos in my album. Still trying to find my way around in this group, looks like some very talented people here and very friendly. adding a photo here of an unfinished tile with the mold imprint on.

Hi Sherry,

This tile is 30cm x 20cm, what I call a medium size in the tiles l do. l have been making smaller ones which l bake in a small toaster oven, but since l have been doing larger ones I have bought an old electric oven and am in the throes of connecting it up outside under my pegola. You can bake in the home oven but l like the idea of just using one for clay items. The iris tile is a bit larger than this one. l use t-shirt transfer paper for the print and then just make up the frames as l go, it is quite fun.

Today l went to the Op shop and bought some small glass bowls with etchings on them . l intend to make some molds from the nice patterns, babysitting my grandson tomorrow, so will have to wait until there are no distractions.!

Today I am working on my novel synopsis and query letter. I don't know if that counts as creativity or not. Feels more like headache-inspiring grunt work to me. ;-)

Today I did some more experimenting in Photoshop. I started with a digital photo I took in my mom's garden a while back, then used the liquify, emboss, and fresco filters for a while. I love the result! Just what I need on my desktop to chase away the winter blahs. ;-)
