My inspiration especially for poetry usually comes when I am out walking my little dog . Here are two to tease you with;
Treasures;
What treasures can I find to-day,
Hidden in the sand?
Not for me a rock or shell,
But something much more grand.

The stopper from a bottle,
Memories of childhood.
How has it survived the years,
Battered by tides and flood?

A little peice of china,
The pattern barely showing.
Was it from a beach picnic,
Or a ship no longer going?

These shores contain a thousand wrecks,
The tide it brings the treasures,
From the bottom of the sea,
How can time be measured?

A hundred years - or maybe two,
A thousand tides have been.
Washing up the treasurs,
By me, they have been seen.

MY DOG

Distant sunlight glistens,
On the water on the bay.
Duck and Herons feeding
As the water ebbs away.

On the beach, a dog.
It's owner deep intent,
Finding treasures 'mongst the sand,
From times that are long spent.

My dog, she sniffs - who has been here,
Was it friend or foe?
To-day or yesterday -
Or many days ago.

Making chase into the water,
After Knots and Oystercatchers,
My dog she tries to fly with them,
But they take to wind with laughter.

Up and down the beach they play,
Belly deep in water,
"Come and catch us if you can",
Laughter, laughter, laughter.
