About Me:
I am creatively living and working in Ohio. I have the complete support of my loving family who enjoy seeing my creations come to life. I have two grandsons (ages 2 and 4) who are my biggest fans.Their honesty means everything to me. I love working in fiber/mixed media arts. I do not like calling myself an Artist as such, because it makes me feel a bit self absorbed. Since my work is always evolving and I am still forever learning new things. I like to refer to myself as an Art Quilter and crafter. Cloth is my passion and it is the basic elment to most works I create. However this is not a means to an end but instead a beginning. My philosphy about life is: love, live and laugh everyday! And never take your love ones for granted. Remember, it is not what has happened but rather how you deal with what has happen. My example of this is: one day I was working away on a quilt that I intended to enter into a show. Unfortnately, I did not realize until later on that I had made an error in the size requirement. And if that was not enough in my hastily way I whirled around and knock paint over onto the entire quilt. I was enraged and headed for the trash bin. Looking at all my hard work ruined, I toss the quilt in the bin and walked away. Needless to say I did not have an entry for that show. I went to the show in support of a friend who had entered her quilt. Her Quilt was beautiful and she won an honorable mention award and I was very happy for her. One week later I had lunch with that friend and she told me the story about that quilt. How she had spill dye onto the quilt and as hurt as she was she refuse to toss the quilt. Instead she applied more dye and paint and lots more stitching and turned that blob of dye into the most striking red mountains I had ever seem. Case in point: with a little creative thinking a wrong can be made right. Stop take a deep breath and think creatively before you toss your hard work.

Sewfully yours,

Rain

Hi Ganell! I love your story about the quilt. I couldn't agree more. I used to routinely tear up my 'failed' paintings and use them in collages. Some of my better work came from those 'failures.'
