On being practically creative...

Hi I've neglected my webpage and noone reminded me to log in. My news is that I passed my Fine Art Degree in the end! The Certificate arrived to confirm the good news and that's brilliant! In September I surprised myself and began a one day a week course in horticulture. It is held at a huge botanical gContinue

Is it Summer yet?

Hey Guys and Gals! Thanks for all your lovely messages of support after the disappointment I had that my Fine Art Degree marks were referred. I did gain a First for my dissertation which is something to make me very proud! I had feedback (in Fine Art jargon) that my research and development notes were not up to their standards and I can re-submit my sketchbooks in September if I want them to reconsider my grade. I must admit that my confidence has taken a beating and if I am to eat humble pie… Continue

My final week in University...?

Let me introduce you to an important part of my life in Uni, Virginia. In case you're reading this and wondering if I am totally deranged: the answer is probably yes! I ventured into the theme of regaining a reputation for innocence. If someone loses their good reputation is it po… Continue

On a bright and sunny February day...

Yesterday was my birthday... I was woken early with a text message from a beloved friend so I couldn't moan... she loves me too! I am not sure that I really woke up the rest of the day though. I had a morning appointment assessment for my university artwork with a complete stranger… Continue

Connie... you are not alone or invisible!

I'm sure that the letting off steam is only a temporary feeling of relief when we feel unappreciated. Such aggrievations in life are just... well you know, the ultimate frustration. Let me share last week's horoscope for me and hope that we all think about it and take heed! Have you noticed how people talk, patronisingly about 'dreamers'? The implication is that people with fanciful ideas are, somehow, second-class citizens. The 'grown-up world' it seems, persecutes such people and takes deligh… Continue

And so another year begins...

Hi Everyone! Happy New Year! Now that I have got this far thoughts are already racing through my head that not everyone celebrates their new year now, nor will everyone be happy to face another year. That's life isn't it - divesity in the face of adversity (something like that anyway.) Trying to keep some momentum going with my art stuff over the festive season proved very difficult. I managed to put together material to fill 2000 words for chapter 1 of my Dissertation. I have added images by… Continue

Almost a week before Christmas...

Hi there The festive season is nearly upon us here in the U.K. where we are only just allowed to celebrate Christian holidays now. The word 'Christmas' is being deleted regularly from posters, activities schedules and media coverage in case anyone is offended by its implications. S… Continue

Today I lost a friend...

My father-in-law from my first marriage died this morning. He'd been really ill for over a year and had battled bravely against the symptoms until the last week or so when he deteriorated very rapidly. I feel guilty that there were opportunities that I'd not taken to help out him a… Continue

Warm thoughts on a cold, dark evening

Well I've just put the heating on, put my hood up and my hands are frozen! Yep it's early November and with the wind howling and the rain hammering on the windows I dream of a sunny beach and warm feet! Luckily for me, my friends on here are joining in with my mad ideas to swap ideas… Continue
